Discover how this yacht owner used a virtual tour to book charters before the yacht was built.

Executive Summary

Eternal Spark, a 50m brand new luxury yacht, faced the challenge of booking charters before completion. By leveraging a web-based real-time 3D virtual experience Virtuelle provided a lifelike tour of the yacht. This innovative solution significantly improved charterers perception of the yacht, leading to increased bookings.

About the Client

Eternal Spark is a prestigious luxury yacht designed to set new standards in the charter industry. Known for its impeccable design and state-of-the-art features, the yacht aims to offer unparalleled experiences to its clients. The owners of Eternal Spark needed a solution to showcase their under-construction yacht to potential clients to secure bookings ahead of the busy summer season.

The Challenge

Client Brief: Eternal Spark wanted to provide potential clients with a realistic experience of the yacht while it was still under construction.

Objectives: Facilitate early bookings by showcasing the yacht’s features and luxury, while providing potential charterers with a clear understanding of its layout.

Constraints: The yacht was still in build, making any traditional content such as videos or photo tours unavailable.

Approach and Solution

Strategy Development: Virtuelle.io conducted thorough analysis and brainstorming of the objectives, audience and channels to devise an innovative solution.

Solution Proposed: Given that the existing Eternal Spark website and the use of brokers as a sales channel, a Virtuelle proposed a web-based real-time 3D virtual tour using Unreal Engine 5. This would provide an easily shareable link to the tour, while maintaining high levels of fidelity and user experience.

Technologies & Tools Used: Unreal Engine 5, cloud-based pixel streaming technology.

Process for Developing the Solution: Virtuelle.io collaborated with Eternal Spark and its designers to adapt detailed 3D models (created for renderings), for use with realtime 3D technology.

Implementation: The virtual tour was integrated into Eternal Spark’s website, allowing users to explore the yacht interactively using any devices. The virtual tour link was also easily shared with brokers and clients alike.

Results

Quantitative Results: Increase in website visits and bookings enquiries.

Qualitative Results: Enhanced customer experience and improved brand perception.

Testimonials: Eternal Spark’s clients praised the immersive experience, noting it felt as if they were physically on the yacht. Some said it really allowed them to understand the layout of the yacht as well as its amenities. Eternal Spark’s project manager highlighted the groundbreaking nature of the virtual tour, emphasizing its role in securing early bookings and providing clients with a realistic preview of the yacht.

Some real estate firms use AR apps to make their physical 2D brochures come to life. Prospective buyers can point their smartphones at the brochure and see a 3D model of the property spring up in the room. They can walk around the model, zoom in on details, and see different floor plans. This interactive experience makes the marketing materials more engaging and memorable.

Conclusion

Summary of Success: The virtual tour transformed Eternal Spark’s marketing strategy, leading to increased engagement and bookings.

Future Implications: This technology can revolutionise yacht marketing, providing long-term benefits by allowing potential buyers to experience new yachts virtually.
